Eddie "Ed" Castillo
President, Rotary Year 2008-2009
Rotary Club of Paranaque South

The Rotary Year 2008-2009 is, indeed, a very challenging year, not only for me as your President Elect,  but also for the entire club of Paranaque South.  I am fully aware of the district’s and club’s expectations in my term and  I am really overwhelmed by the trust and confidence accorded to me by our dear GovernorBoyet  Limon and my fellow Rotarians in RCPS.

Our theme for this year, “Make Dreams Real“  is truly a lofty one.  With the numerous natural calamities and disasters happening one after the other in different parts of the world, our advocacy to help curb child mortality has become more and  more challenging.   As  Rotarians we too can dream,  dream that we can in our own little way help realize the dreams of even just a handful of the many, many children out there  fighting for survival.  All it takes is for us to believe we can make it happen.

We will capitalize on our Club’s strengths: our past presidents together with their Anns’ unwavering and unstinted support and dedication to the club’s ideals and mission. Our pool of medical doctors who have consistently spearheaded the clubs numerous medical missions in different communities and our young active members from diverse backgrounds who unselfishly share their time and effort to worthwhile projects of the club. This time, we will focus on the improvement of children’s health.   We can also include an anti-drug campaign to address drug addiction and  HIV/AIDS.   We will implement doable and direct ways to save the  children’s lives, including the unborn.

We will also create an awareness among our very own children, so they too, can take part in this life changing mission.  Let us remember that  children die not because nobody can help them, but because too often, nobody does.  Thus, if each one of us do our share to help “make dreams real” then we would be able to save the lives of the children and we will all have achieved something really heartwarming and life-changing.

So, to my fellow Rotarians, lets get started on what we do best, which is helping.  Let us start to make a difference by giving children hope and a chance at a better future.

Thank you very much for giving me this chance to make a difference.  Together we can do it!
